Partners for Healthy Students

Partners for Healthy Students

Ask parents, teachers and healthcare providers and they’ll tell you that healthy children are better prepared to learn at school. In western Yavapai County, Yavapai Regional Medical Center (YRMC) supports health and learning with Partners for Healthy Students (PHS) school-based pediatric clinics.

Since 1999, PHS has provided primary, preventive, vision and other healthcare services to students and their siblings in the Chino Valley, Humboldt and Prescott Unified School Districts, as well as charter schools. In 2014—thanks to its new Mobile Health Clinic—PHS expanded its reach to include students and their siblings from schools in Kirkland, Hillside, Mayer, Paulden, Yarnell and Wilhoit.

Coordinating with school nurses or health aides, PHS provides free healthcare services to children and their siblings from qualifying families. Visits are by appointment and a parent must be with the child during the appointment.
The PHS clinical team includes two certified pediatric nurse practitioners, two program coordinators, and a pediatrician who serves as the consulting medical director. The PHS team:

Conducts well-child and adolescent exams
Diagnoses and treat acute and chronic illnesses
Prescribes and monitor medications
Conducts sports physicals
Refers children to medical specialists

Del E. Webb Family Enrichment Center

Del E. Webb Family Enrichment Center

The Del E. Webb Family Enrichment Center (FEC) is changing the world one child and family at a time. Studies show that children who experience high quality early education perform better in elementary and high school. They develop the social skills that later empower them to become active and supportive members of their community. The FEC has repeatedly earned the ?Highest Quality? rating in Arizona, demonstrating their commitment in helping children and parents achieve their full potential.

Your donation will help provide funds so that the children of low-income students and faculty at Yavapai College, as well as the children of low-income residents of Yavapai County, can attend the FEC. Hungry Kids Project

Hungry Kids Project

The Hungry Kids Project (HK) provides weekend food within four adjoining school districts: Prescott Unified School District (PUSD), Humboldt Unified School District (HUSD), Chino Valley Unified School District (CVUSD), and Mayer Unified School District (MUSD).

School personnel identify the children who have little or no weekend food available to them. Volunteers pack and deliver food packs to the schools where staff distribute them to the identified children. Contributions are used totally to purchase food for packs. Since pediatricians agree that hunger and malnutrition have a negative effect upon learning and brain development, the goal is to insure each child can return to school on Mondays ready to learn.
